Course Book
The course mostly follows a book in preparation: "Exploring Natural Disasters: Natural Processes and Human Impacts" by Gabi Laske. As the online lecture notes are very brief, students are advised to read the book chapters for additional reading. Material covered in the book but not in the lectures may be test material.
Lectures and Discussion
Lectures will be scheduled and held in-person and in the classroom/localities posted on the lecture schedule. Lectures will be podcast for remote access. Podcasts will be available through Canvas.

Homework Sets
- 9 sets plus one in-person or virtual field trip -> 10 sets total
- one each week (distributed/due Tuesdays)

- missed problem set is 0 points
- homeworks will be graded on Gradescope

Office Hours
- an office hour will be held weekly

Tests
- weekly tests on Mondays
- 10 total
- multiple choice questions (about 20 questions for about 30 min)
- tests will be given on Canvas
- open book but no Googling and no asking somebody else
Grading
- all tests and homeworks contribute to final grade
- linear grade scale, no curving
